Accreditation

An ACN working party, funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, has been investigating the accreditation of cancer services in Australia.

The group has produced a scoping report A Core Strategy for Cancer Care: Accreditation of Cancer Services – A Discussion Paper that:

  • critically examines international and Australian cancer service accreditation systems and standards
  • identifies the principles, criteria and common themes that could be applied in the Australian context.

The report highlights a number of issues that need to be considered when implementing an accreditation system and has been promoted as the basis of a potential Australian accreditation model.
