National Skin Cancer Action Week is held annually at the start of Summer and aims to raise awareness of skin cancer in Australia. In 2011, National Skin Cancer Action Week will be held from November 20-26.  The awareness week is hosted by Cancer Council in conjunction with the Australasian College of Dermatologists.

This year, Cancer Council is focusing on teenagers and their sun behaviours and attitudes. We are promoting our “Original Skin: Keep it real this summer” campaign which encourages all Australians to embrace their natural skin colour.

Did you know that melanoma is the most diagnosed cancer in 15 to 44 year-olds? Australian adolescents have the highest incidence of malignant melanoma in the world.

We are delighted to continue our relationship with Australian Cricket’s Test captain Michael Clarke in 2011, who has had three skin cancers removed from his face.

Once again, we will be promoting our 'Be SunSmart this summer'  community service announcement featuring Michael Clarke.
