Parliament House breaks for a cuppa with a cause!
Federal Minister for Health the Hon Tanya Plibersek and Shadow Health Minister the Hon Peter Dutton, will be making their cup count by breaking for morning tea at Parliament House in support of Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea. The morning tea will be held in the Mural Hall in Parliament House at 10:30am on Thursday 24th May with fellow Members of Parliament in attendance.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is one of Australia’s largest national participation events and a fundraising flagship for the Cancer Council. Held throughout May the concept is simple, Australians break for morning tea on the 24th of May (or any time in May) to raise funds to support the fight against all cancers.
The event has raised over $100million since its inception in 1994 and this year Cancer Council is seeking to raise $11.5 million to help fund vital cancer research, prevention and support services (like the Cancer Council Helpline 13 11 20).
Last year over 35,000 households, workplaces and schools hosted a morning tea with over one million Australians coming together across the country to raise funds for Cancer Council and help reduce the impact of cancer on all Australians.
By taking part in Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, Australians can help Cancer Council support the 1 in 2 Australians who will be diagnosed with cancer by age 85.
