While clinical care, such as surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy, are the most critical to saving or extending life, it is nonetheless important that people with cancer have access to a range of additional services to support their overall health and wellbeing.

A key to improved patient outcomes is ensuring that wide-ranging essential care services are coordinated, with the patient at the centre of the care plan and actively involved in its development. This is referred to as multidisciplinary care.
