Application Guidelines

  • Grants of up to $25,000 each are available to assist Secondary Schools to purchase approved shade for their school.
  • There is a two part application process:
      • Applications can only be submitted via the Cancer Council Shade for Secondary Schools Grant Program online application form. Applications must be completed in full by Friday 13 June 2014 (5pm AEST).
      • Applications will be shortlisted. Shortlisted Secondary Schools will be asked to seek two (GST inclusive) supplier quotes before the final round of judging is complete.

  • You can apply for a Cancer Council Shade for Secondary Schools grant, proudly made possible by eftpos, if you:
      • are an Australian Secondary School;
      • have completed 'Shade audit' report;
      • an active sun protection or UV Policy (or documentation demonstrating that one is in development by the time applications close);
      • can show diagrams or pictures of where the proposed shade will be located;
      • have a letter of support from School Council and Principal;
      • can demonstrate evidence of the six (6) compliance strategies your Secondary School has met (1 of which is the active sun protection or UV Policy)
      • upload the SunSmart Web widget to your Secondary School's website;
      • agree to the Terms and Conditions of the grant.
  • Please allow up to 45 minutes to complete this application form, assuming you are eligible and have the required documentation ready. Applications cannot be saved to come back to at another time.

23 January 2014, Thursday Applications open (beginning Term 1)
 13 June 2014, Friday (5pm AEST)  Applications close (mid Term 2)
 16 June 2014 to 14 July 2014  Assessment of applications, short list applicants and request two supplier quotes from shortlisted applicants.
 1 August 2014, Friday  Shortlisted applicants to submit two final supplier quotes.
 Around 18 August 2014, Monday  Cancer Council to notify successful applicants by mail (mid Term 3)
 14 August 2015, Friday (5pm AEST)  All projects must be fully completed (mid Term 3)
 30 October 2015, Friday (5pm AEST)  All successful applicants must have provided evidence of completion and satisfied media commitments (early Term 4)
