The Australian Cancer Network (ACN) aims to improve cancer management in Australia by linking professional bodies and societies with an interest in cancer.
Established in 1994 by Cancer Council Australia and the Clinical Oncological Society of Australia, ACN develops and disseminates evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and management of cancer, which are used in Australia and internationally.
More recently ACN has been working on improving the quality of cancer care by producing publications on accreditation of cancer services, credentialing of clinicians and implementation of guidelines.
More than 70 interest groups make up ACN, covering basic science through medical and nursing care to public health. These organisations collaborate to produce clinical guidelines and meet the objectives of the network.
