These are the terms and conditions (Terms) for the National Skin Cancer Action Week Main Quiz Giveaway (Promotion). Please read them before you enter. By entering the Promotion, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. The Promoter
The Promotion is run by Cancer Council Australia (ABN 91 130 793 725) of 300 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010 (we, us, our or the Promoter). You can contact us at competition@cancer.org.au.
2. The Promotion
The Promotion opens at 12:00am AEDT on Monday 2 November 2026 and closes at 11:59pm AEDT on Thursday 19 November 2026 (Promotion Period), in the lead-up to and during National Skin Cancer Action Week. The Promotion Period is divided into three weekly entry periods (each, a Weekly Entry Period): (a) Week 1, from 12:00am AEDT on Monday 2 November 2026 to 11:59pm AEDT on Thursday 5 November 2026; (b) Week 2, from 12:00am AEDT on Friday 6 November 2026 to 11:59pm AEDT on Thursday 12 November 2026; and (c) Week 3, from 12:00am AEDT on Friday 13 November 2026 to 11:59pm AEDT on Thursday 19 November 2026.
The Promotion is run through a quiz on our website at cancer.org.au/nscaw2026/win-little-sid-seagull (Quiz Page). We may promote the Promotion on our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts, but you can only enter through the Quiz Page.
This Promotion is conducted in every Australian State and Territory.
All times in these Terms are Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT), which is Sydney time.
This Promotion is a game of chance. Answering the quiz questions correctly is a condition of entry only. Winners are chosen by random draw from all valid entries, and skill plays no part in deciding who wins.
3. Who can enter
The Promotion is open to Australian residents aged 18 years or over only.
Employees, contractors and agents of the Promoter, and their immediate family members, are not excluded from entering this Promotion.
When you submit the entry form, you must confirm that you are aged 18 years or over. If you are under 18, you are not eligible to enter and any entry you submit will be invalid.
4. How to enter
To enter, during the Promotion Period you must:
- visit the Quiz Page at cancer.org.au/nscaw2026/win-little-sid-seagull
- answer all 8 quiz questions correctly; and
- complete and submit the entry form on the Quiz Page with your full name, email address and Australian postal address, and confirm that you are aged 18 years or over, in each case in accordance with the instructions on the Quiz Page.
The answers to the quiz questions can be found on our Sun Safety information page at cancer.org.au/nscaw2026/sun-safety. At the end of the quiz, you will be told whether you have answered all 8 questions correctly. If you have not, you may attempt the quiz again as many times as you like. You will only be able to submit the entry form once you have answered all 8 questions correctly.
You may enter the Promotion once in each Weekly Entry Period (up to 3 entries in total). If you submit more than one entry in a Weekly Entry Period (including by using a different email address or name), only your first valid entry in that Weekly Entry Period will be counted. We may use the details you provide to identify duplicate entries.
Entry is completely free. You do not need to buy anything, and there is no cost to enter beyond any internet or data charges you already pay your own provider.
5. Invalid, late or improper entries
We may, acting reasonably, treat an entry as invalid and disregard it if we reasonably believe it is fraudulent, incomplete, automated (for example, generated by a bot or script), duplicated, contains false or misleading details, or otherwise does not genuinely comply with these Terms.
Entries received after the end of the Promotion Period will not be counted, even if the delay is not your fault. An entry is received when it is recorded by our website system, not when it is sent.
Subject to clause 11.1, we are not responsible for any entry that is lost, delayed, incomplete or not received because of a technical problem with our website, your device or your internet connection, except to the extent caused by our negligence.
We may disqualify any person who we reasonably believe has tampered with the entry process (for example, by using scripts, multiple identities or false details), or otherwise acted unlawfully or in a way that could damage the reputation of the Promoter.
6. Prizes
There are 135 prizes to be won, being 45 prizes in each of the 3 weekly draws. Each prize is two “Little Sid Seagull” plush toys (each, a Prize). Each Prize is valued at $20.67 (RRP, including GST).
The total combined value of all Prizes is $2,790.45 (in Australian dollars, based on recommended retail price and including GST).
Subject to clause 11.1, Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
If a Prize (or any part of it) becomes unavailable for reasons beyond our control, we may substitute it with a prize of a similar kind and of equal or greater value, subject to any applicable law.
We will only post Prizes to addresses within Australia.
We will send each Prize by standard post to the Australian postal address provided in the winner's entry, within 14 days after the relevant draw.
If your Prize (or any part of it) is faulty or arrives damaged, please contact us at competition@cancer.org.au within 30 days of receiving it and we will replace the affected item (or, if it is no longer available, provide an item of a similar kind and of equal or greater value). This does not limit any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. How we choose the winners
We will select 45 winners for each Weekly Entry Period by random computerised draw from all valid entries received during that Weekly Entry Period. The draws will take place at 10.00am AEDT on Friday 6 November 2026 (Week 1), Friday 13 November 2026 (Week 2) and Friday 20 November 2026 (Week 3), at our office at 300 Elizabeth Street, Surry Hills NSW 2010. If fewer than 45 valid entries are received in a Weekly Entry Period, each valid entry for that week will win a Prize, and the remaining Prizes for that week will be added to the draw for the next Weekly Entry Period. Any Prizes not awarded after the Week 3 draw will be offered in the unclaimed prize redraw under clause 8.3.
Entries are only eligible for the draw for the Weekly Entry Period in which they are received, and do not carry over to later draws. Each person can win only one Prize in this Promotion, and anyone who has already won a Prize will be excluded from later draws.
Our decision as to who has validly entered and who has won a Prize is final. We will act reasonably and in good faith in making that decision.
8. Telling you if you've won, and receiving your Prize
- We will notify each winner by email, to the email address provided in their entry, within 2 business days of the relevant draw.
- You do not need to do anything to claim your Prize. We will post it to the Australian postal address provided in your entry, as set out in clause 6.6. Please make sure the address you give us is correct and complete.
- If a drawn entry is found not to comply with these Terms, or a Prize is returned to us undelivered and we are unable to contact the winner after reasonable efforts within 14 days of the Prize being returned, that person forfeits the Prize. Any forfeited or unawarded Prize will be awarded in an unclaimed prize redraw, conducted in the same way and at the same place as the original draws, at 10.00am AEDT on [Friday 18 December 2026], from all remaining valid entries received during the Promotion Period (excluding anyone who has already won a Prize). We will notify any redraw winner in the same way as under clause 8.1.
- We may publish the first name and State or Territory of each winner on the Quiz Page and our social media accounts, to announce the results of the Promotion. By accepting a Prize, you consent to this.
- We will only ever contact winners from an email address ending in @cancer.org.au. We will never ask you to pay any money, provide bank or credit card details or passwords, or click on an external link to claim a Prize. If you receive a message like this claiming to be from us, please do not respond.
- We may ask a winner to provide reasonable proof of identity, age or Australian residency before we send a Prize. If this is not provided within the time we reasonably request, the entry may be treated as invalid and the Prize awarded under clause 8.3.
- If a Prize is not won, or a winner cannot be found, we will publish that information on the Quiz Page.
9. Your personal information
We collect the personal information you provide in your entry (your name, email address and postal address) so that we can run the Promotion, including to check that you are eligible, identify duplicate entries, conduct the draw, contact winners and send Prizes.
You do not have to give us this information, but if you do not, we cannot accept your entry.
We do not use your information to send you marketing, and we do not share it with anyone else other than our service providers who help us run the Promotion or deliver Prizes (such as our website and form providers, our IT and cloud storage providers, and Australia Post or a courier), or where required or authorised by law.
We will securely delete the personal information of entrants who do not win within 3 months after the end of the Promotion, and of winners within 12 months after the end of the Promotion, unless we are required to keep it for longer.
We handle personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available at https://www.cancer.org.au/privacy-policy, which explains how you can access or correct your information, or make a complaint.
10. Social media
This Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by, or associated with Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn or their parent companies (together, the Platforms).
Any questions, comments or complaints about the Promotion must be directed to us, not to those platforms.
By entering, and to the extent permitted by law, you release the Platforms from any claim or liability arising from your participation in the Promotion.
Information you provide as part of the Promotion is provided to us, not to the Platforms.
11. Liability
- Nothing in these Terms limits, excludes or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be limited, excluded or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law.
- Subject to clause 11.1, to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss (including indirect or consequential loss), damage, personal injury, or loss of opportunity, however arising, in connection with the Promotion or a Prize (except to the extent caused or contributed to by our negligence, wilful misconduct or breach of these Terms), including where a Prize is lost, delayed or damaged in the post.
- We do not give any express warranty about a Prize beyond what is provided by the manufacturer or supplier of that Prize, and beyond the consumer guarantees referred to in clause 11.1.
12. General
We may vary, suspend or cancel the Promotion, or these Terms, if circumstances arise outside our reasonable control that make it necessary to do so (for example, a technical failure affecting the Quiz Page). If we do, we will act fairly, will comply with any direction of a relevant State or Territory authority, and will post a notice on the Quiz Page.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
This Promotion does not require a permit or licence in any Australian State or Territory, as the total value of the Prizes is below the level at which a permit or licence is required.
