About the role
The National Marketing Manager is a strategic role responsible for shaping and strengthening Cancer Council Australia’s national marketing approach across campaigns, brand and digital channels. The role leads the development and delivery of integrated, evidence-based marketing strategies that support policy, advocacy and behaviour change objectives, while reinforcing Cancer Council Australia’s position as Australia’s leading authority on cancer prevention, detection, treatment and support.
Operating within a federated model, the role supports alignment of marketing activity across state and territory Cancer Councils, enabling consistent, high-impact campaigns and a cohesive national brand presence. Working closely with the Head of Marketing, divisional leaders and national committees, the role provides strategic advice and hands-on support to campaign planning, brand positioning, audience engagement and performance, while overseeing the integration of paid, owned and earned activity.
A key focus of the role is leading collaboration across a complex stakeholder environment to deliver major campaigns and strategic projects with clarity, creativity and measurable impact. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking and operational excellence, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, navigate complexity and continuously improve marketing effectiveness and reach.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead national marketing strategy, planning and execution across campaigns and digital channels
- Drive integrated, multi-channel campaigns across digital, print, events and partnerships
- Lead major campaign briefs (e.g. National Skin Cancer Awareness Week, World No Tobacco Day)
- Support national social media strategy and performance across channels
- Contribute to key strategic projects including ambassador programs, partnerships and brand governance
- Ensure national brand consistency and alignment with organisational priorities
- Partner with internal stakeholders and external agencies to deliver impactful campaigns
- Use data and insights to optimise performance and inform future strategy
- Manage multiple projects, timelines, budgets and risks effectively
About you
You are an accomplished marketing professional with significant experience operating at a senior level across brand, campaigns and integrated marketing. You bring a strong understanding of how national brands are built, strengthened and sustained within complex stakeholder environments. You are confident advising senior leaders and cross-functional teams, with the ability to translate strategy into clear, compelling and effective marketing activity. Your judgement is sound, your communication style is influential, and you understand the importance of evidence-based, audience-led approaches in a public health context.
You have demonstrated experience developing and delivering integrated, multi-channel marketing strategies that drive measurable impact. You are highly capable in campaign planning and execution, with a strong grasp of data, insights and performance optimisation. You are comfortable managing complexity, balancing competing priorities and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
You are a collaborative and values-driven marketer who thrives in a federated environment. You build trusted relationships across internal teams, member organisations and external partners, and are skilled at influencing and aligning diverse perspectives. You lead with clarity, integrity and purpose, and are committed to fostering a supportive, inclusive and high-performing team culture.
You bring:
