About the role

The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government’s Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council’s existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. The project aims to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways, offering new ways for people to connect with support that best meets their needs now and into the future.

We are now seeking an organised and proactive Program Support Coordinator to play a key role in supporting the delivery of this major national program. Working within the Program Management Office (PMO), you will provide high-level administrative, coordination and operational support across multiple program workstreams. This role sits at the centre of program activity and is critical in enabling effective governance, stakeholder engagement and day-to-day delivery. You will work closely with internal teams, state and territory Cancer Councils, and external stakeholders including government partners.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating day-to-day program activities to support delivery across multiple workstreams
  • Providing secretariat support to governance groups, including preparing agendas, minutes and tracking actions
  • Managing program documentation, shared drives and records in line with governance requirements
  • Coordinating meetings, workshops, webinars and program events, including logistics and stakeholder communications
  • Supporting program reporting, communications and stakeholder engagement activities
  • Maintaining program inboxes and ensuring timely responses and follow-up
  • Assisting with contract administration, invoicing and budget tracking
  • Supporting PMO processes, systems and continuous improvement initiatives

About you

You are a highly organised and detail-oriented coordinator who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments. You enjoy working across multiple priorities and take pride in keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes.You are a strong communicator with excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build relationships across diverse groups. You are proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused, with a genuine interest in contributing to meaningful, purpose-driven work.

You bring:

  • Experience in administration, project coordination or program support roles
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Experience providing secretariat support, including coordinating meetings and preparing documentation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, SharePoint and related tools
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset and ability to work in ambiguity
  • Alignment with Cancer Council Australia’s mission and values
  • Experience in the health or not-for-profit sector (desirable)
