Make a statewide impact to the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians

Are you a strategic, people‑centred leader passionate about improving health outcomes for Tasmanians? Join Quit Tasmania (part of Cancer Council Tasmania) and play a key role in shaping high‑quality, evidence‑based smoking and vaping cessation support across the state.

We are seeking a motivated and collaborative professional to lead the delivery, integration and continuous improvement of our cessation services, while strengthening capability across health and community sectors to address smoking and vaping with their clients and building statewide partnerships that support integrated, best practice care.

About the Role

As the Lead, Cessation Services & Partnerships (part-time 0.7 FTE), you will provide strategic oversight for Quit Tasmania’s smoking and vaping cessation services. This includes governance of multi‑channel Quitline delivery (phone, SMS, web chat), quality improvement, and ensuring compliance with National Minimum Quitline Standards.

You will strengthen statewide integration of smoking and vaping cessation support through effective partnerships, drive capacity‑building initiatives for health professionals and community service workers, and ensure our cessation information and communications remain accurate, contemporary and evidence‑based.

This is a pivotal role that combines service leadership, partnership development, evaluation, and system improvement - perfect for someone who wants to make a meaningful, population‑level impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to deliver high‑quality, contemporary and evidence‑based smoking and vaping cessation services and support statewide.
  • Lead and support the Quitline Manager and team to achieve effective service delivery and performance against KPIs.
  • Drive statewide integration of cessation services across health and community settings by strengthening referral pathways, continuity of care and collaboration.
  • Lead capacity‑building initiatives and support the implementation of Quit Tasmania’s Health Professional Engagement Strategy.
  • Oversee governance of cessation information, communications and service delivery to ensure accuracy and alignment with evidence-based practice.
  • Contribute to organisational reporting and communications.
  • Manage the Tasmanian Quitline Advisory Group and ensure strong governance and meaningful integration of expert advice.
  • Represent Quit Tasmania on relevant national and state-based networks, committees and working groups.

About You

You are a self‑motivated leader with professional qualifications and significant relevant experience within the health sector, strong communication skills and a commitment to continuous quality improvement. You will have a sound understanding of health systems and integrated care and apply a people‑centred approach to your work.

You thrive on building collaborative relationships across diverse health and community settings, and you’re confident managing and motivating a small team. Curiosity and initiative come naturally - you’re comfortable using data and evaluation tools to improve service quality, equity of access and client outcomes.
