About the role
We’re seeking an experienced Content Creator to join our Cancer Control Campaigns and Communications team. In this hands-on role, you’ll create clear, engaging and accessible content that supports Cancer Council Australia’s national campaigns and public information work. You’ll write, edit and tailor content for a range of audiences and channels, including websites, long-form articles, SEO content, social media, email and campaign assets, helping translate evidence-based information into content that is easy to understand and aligned to brand and editorial standards.
You’ll work closely with internal stakeholders across communications, digital and campaigns, as well as external suppliers such as freelancers and agencies, to deliver content in a variety of formats including short-form video, animation, infographics and visual assets. You’ll support end-to-end content delivery from planning and briefing through to stakeholder review, publication and optimisation applying a user-centred approach and using insights and performance data to improve content quality and effectiveness over time.
Key responsibilities include:
- Devising and creating suites of content for digital platforms, including writing high quality long-form articles; short-form promotional content; micro-copy; writing for SEO & GEO.
- Transforming source material into clear, accessible digital content by restructuring it for templates, site structure and information architecture.
- Experience of creating and producing content for social media platforms.
- Producing content with craft specialists for multiple formats (including video, animation and infographics) and tailor tone and structure for diverse audiences.
- Applying a user-centred approach, using evidence, insight and data to improve content quality and performance.
- Exploring efficient digital workflows (including AI tools) to improve production and understanding of audience needs.
- Maintaining high editorial standards: proofing, accuracy, documentation and attention to detail.
- Managing stakeholders (including agencies and freelancers), content calendars, asset sourcing and reporting.
About you
You’re an experienced content creator who can craft clear, compelling content across web and social. You’re confident working with complex information, producing accessible content that meets audience needs and aligns with brand and editorial standards. You are as comfortable auditing, mapping and restructuring existing content into clear, coherent, user-centred experiences as you are copywriting our Annual Review or campaign microsites. You’re highly organised, able to manage multiple deadlines, and you bring a collaborative approach to working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers. Most importantly, you’re motivated to use your content skills for positive public impact.
You bring:
- Demonstrated experience creating content for digital platforms (web, social, short-form, micro copy, SEO, long-form).
- Proven ability to restructure and adapt content for digital templates and information architecture.
- Strong research skills and ability to translate complex information into accessible messaging.
- Experience in user centred content development and optimisation, including testing or feedback loops.
- Excellent time management and ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
- Strong editorial capability (sub-editing, plain English writing, accessibility).
- Experience producing short-form video, animation or audio content.
- Familiarity with production and analytics workflows, and/or user testing.
- CMS publishing experience and an understanding of digital marketing.
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in writing and content creation.
