About Cancer Council Australia

With a mission to save lives and create a cancer-free future, Cancer Council offers a purpose-driven workplace where everyone can make a meaningful difference to help improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
About the role
The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government’s Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council’s existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. We are now seeking an experienced and influential Director of Engagement to lead the national stakeholder engagement strategy for this important program. This newly created, senior leadership position will play an influential role in shaping national conversations around cancer navigation. The Director of Engagement will:

- Represent Cancer Council Australia in national forums, media, conferences and sector events as delegated, ensuring consistent messaging.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government, ACNNP partners, cancer sector organisations, and priority population groups.
- Provide expert advice to the CEO, Program Director and governance forums on stakeholder insights, risks, and opportunities.
- Ensure alignment with the 10-Year Australian Cancer Plan and contribute to long-term sustainability and investment opportunities.
- Work closely with the Head of First Nations Strategy and Engagement to uphold cultural safety and First Nations governance principles
