About Cancer Council Australia

Cancer Council Australia is the nation’s leading non-government cancer control organisation, focused on reducing the impact of cancer through research, prevention, and support. We work alongside the community, health professionals, and government to provide trusted information and services to those affected by cancer. With a mission to save lives and create a cancer-free future, Cancer Council offers a purpose-driven workplace where everyone can make a meaningful difference to help improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.

About the role

The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government’s Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council’s existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. The project aims to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways, offering new ways for people to connect with support that best meets their needs now and into the future.

We are now seeking an experienced Digital Platform Owner to lead the delivery of the Cancer Navigation Service’s national digital platforms. This role has end-to-end responsibility for ensuring the platform is user-centred, accessible, secure and scalable, and supports the successful delivery of the national service. The role has ownership of the designated scope, achieving agreed outcomes in line with the program schedule and allocated funding. Facilitate the resolution of blockers related to the leveraging of the platform to achieve releases and program outcomes.

Working within a federated program environment, you will collaborate with internal teams, state and territory Cancer Councils, vendors and governance groups to coordinate delivery across multiple workstreams and ensure the platform is ready for national launch and ongoing evolution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the vision, roadmap and delivery of the Cancer Navigation Service digital platforms
  • Translate user needs, service requirements and data insights into clear delivery priorities
  • Coordinate platform delivery across multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, risks and timelines
  • Work closely with state and territory digital teams and program stakeholders to support a federated national service
  • Ensure the platform meets accessibility, privacy, security and quality standards
  • Support testing, service readiness and release processes in line with program governance
  • Monitor platform performance and adoption, using analytics and user feedback to drive continuous improvement
  • Act as a key liaison between technical delivery teams, program leadership and stakeholders

About you

You are an experienced digital delivery professional with a strong track record of delivering large-scale digital platforms or websites in complex environments. Ideally, you bring experience working across federated or multi-agency programs and are comfortable balancing diverse stakeholder needs.

You bring:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Digital Platform Owner, Digital Product Owner or Digital Project Manager
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery and cross-team coordination
  • Proven ability to manage vendors and external delivery partners
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, digital quality and risk management
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Desirable experience includes:

  • Experience in Health, Government or not-for-profit sectors
  • Exposure to analytics, CMS workflows and digital delivery tools
  • Experience supporting UAT, service readiness or major digital launches
  • Familiarity with federated service models or national digital programs
  • Commitment to equity, inclusivity and culturally safe digital service delivery

We welcome and actively encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with a disability, the LGBTQI+ community, mature age workers, as well as parents and carers returning to the workforce.

Why work with us?
