About Cancer Council Australia
Cancer Council Australia is the nation’s leading non-government cancer control organisation, focused on reducing the impact of cancer through research, prevention, and support. We work alongside the community, health professionals, and government to provide trusted information and services to those affected by cancer. With a mission to save lives and create a cancer-free future, Cancer Council offers a purpose-driven workplace where everyone can make a meaningful difference to help improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
About the role
The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government’s Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council’s existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. The project aims to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways, offering new ways for people to connect with support that best meets their needs now and into the future.
We are seeking an experienced National Product Manager to provide end-to-end product leadership for the Cancer Navigation Service. This role is accountable for defining the overall product vision, roadmap and priorities, ensuring the service meets user needs, integrates seamlessly across the technology stack and delivers measurable outcomes nationally. Acting as a central link between stakeholders, delivery teams and technical partners, you will guide the product through discovery, delivery, release and continuous improvement, balancing strategic priorities with practical delivery in a complex, federated environment.
Key responsibilities include:
- Own and maintain the product vision and roadmap for the Cancer Navigation Service
- Translate user, stakeholder and service needs into clear, prioritised product requirements
- Work with Product Owners and delivery teams to plan, refine and deliver backlog items
- Coordinate dependencies across multiple workstreams to support cohesive, end-to-end delivery
- Oversee UAT, quality assurance and go-live readiness to ensure releases meet expectations
- Monitor product performance and outcomes using analytics and feedback to inform enhancements
- Act as a key liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams
- Support governance processes including approvals, documentation and risk management
- Build shared understanding and confidence across a diverse stakeholder group
About you
You are an experienced Product Manager with a strong understanding of Cancer Council products, service design and client-centred delivery, ideally within health or complex service environments. You are comfortable navigating competing priorities, translating strategy into action and working across multidisciplinary teams.
You bring:
- Demonstrated experience in product management or product ownership roles
- Understanding of health systems, navigation or client-centred service delivery
- Strong experience translating user needs into actionable product requirements
- Understanding of Agile delivery, sprint planning and backlog management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across concurrent initiatives
- Strong understanding of accessibility, quality, performance and privacy standards
Desirable experience includes:
- Experience in the not-for-profit, health or public sector
- Experience supporting UAT and large-scale digital or service launches
- Experience working closely with IT and development partners
- Exposure to digital innovation, analytics or service optimisation initiatives
- Commitment to equity, inclusivity and culturally safe service delivery
