About Cancer Council Australia

Cancer Council Australia is the nation’s leading non-government cancer control organisation, focused on reducing the impact of cancer through research, prevention, and support. We work alongside the community, health professionals, and government to provide trusted information and services to those affected by cancer. With a mission to save lives and create a cancer-free future, Cancer Council offers a purpose-driven workplace where everyone can make a meaningful difference to help improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.

About the role

The Cancer Navigation Service is a key component of the Australian Government’s Australian Cancer Nursing and Navigation Program (ACNNP). This national initiative is enhancing and expanding Cancer Council’s existing information and support services to provide more timely, equitable, and culturally safe access to information, navigation, and support for anyone impacted by cancer. The project aims to integrate, strengthen, and digitalise navigation pathways, offering new ways for people to connect with support that best meets their needs now and into the future.

We are seeking an experienced Enterprise Architect to define and safeguard the enterprise architecture underpinning the National Cancer Navigation Service. This role is critical to ensuring that technology solutions across the program are scalable, secure, interoperable and aligned with national governance and design intent. Working within a highly federated delivery environment, you will guide architectural decisions across multiple platforms, vendors and delivery streams, helping prevent technical debt, solution divergence and major regret spend while supporting a nationally consistent service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and maintain the enterprise architecture to support program outcomes and long-term sustainability
  • Establish and apply architectural principles, standards and governance across delivery streams
  • Provide oversight of technology design, integrations and platform interoperability
  • Review and endorse technical designs at design gates, ensuring alignment with program intent and national design authority
  • Work closely with Solution Architects, Product Managers and technical leads to manage cross-stream dependencies
  • Support secure, scalable integration across CRM, telephony, digital, web, data and analytics platforms
  • Identify and manage emerging technical risks related to performance, security, integration and scalability\
  • Produce and maintain clear architecture artefacts, including current and future state views, solution designs and decision records
  • Collaborate with state and territory counterparts to promote alignment, interoperability and shared best practice

About you

You are an experienced Enterprise Architect with a strong background in large-scale digital programs and a passion for building coherent, future-ready digital ecosystems. You are comfortable operating in complex, multi-stakeholder environments and providing clear architectural direction while enabling collaborative delivery.

You bring:

  • Demonstrated experience delivering enterprise architecture for large, complex digital programs
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture methodologies and governance frameworks
  • Experience designing scalable, secure digital and data platforms, ideally within cloud-based environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and translate between technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience guiding architectural standards and conducting design reviews across multiple delivery streams
  • Sound knowledge of cybersecurity, digital risk management and quality standards
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

Desirable experience includes:

  • Experience in health, government or not-for-profit sectors
  • Exposure to Microsoft and Azure platforms, CRM and omnichannel service delivery environments
  • Familiarity with federated or multi-agency service models
  • Experience working within structured program governance environments
  • Experience using visual modelling tools and producing clear architectural artefacts
  • Commitment to equity, inclusivity and accessible digital service design
