Cancer Prevention Officer - Launceston
Cancer Council Tasmania
Do you have a passion for public health and love engaging in community? Are you self-motivated and confident speaking in front of a group?
Our cancer prevention team is looking for a dynamic team member to deliver cancer prevention programs in the community on a part-time (0.4 FTE) fixed-term basis to cover a period of parental leave.
The Cancer Prevention Officer will be responsible for:
- Deliver informative and engaging cancer prevention education sessions in community settings
- Attend community events to connect individuals with cancer prevention information and resources
- Support program evaluation through data collection and feedback gathering
- Provide administration, IT and logistical support for prevention activities.
You’ll be bringing together your experience in community engagement and general understanding of health promotion project planning, delivery and evaluation. You will be confident delivering information via formal face-to-face presentations through to more informal community events. You will therefore need to be happy and confident in this front-facing community role, and heading out to engagements means you will need to hold a valid driver’s license and a WWVP Card (or the ability to obtain one).
We are looking for someone with tertiary qualifications in health promotion, health science or a similar field (or near completion of degree) OR equivalent community engagement experience. There is a lot of preparation required, so you will need to be tech savvy, organised and proactive in ensuring our messaging is right for our audiences, but you’ll have the support of an experienced and passionate state-wide team to help you succeed.
