Cancer Council Tasmania (CCT) is seeking a motivated and community‑minded Retail Manager (0.8 FTE) to lead our Clothes4Cancer Opportunity Shop in Devonport. Our Opportunity Shop raises vital funds to support the research, advocacy and support services CCT provides to the Tasmanian community.

About the Role

The Retail Manager is responsible for the day‑to‑day operation and safe running of the C4C Opportunity Shop. You will lead a vibrant group of staff and volunteers, ensuring the shop remains welcoming, organised and customer‑focused.

If you have experience in retail management, enjoy working with people and thrive in a dynamic environment, this role offers a chance to make a meaningful difference every day.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing all day-to-day shop operations
  • Managing staff and volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training and subsequent support and rostering
  • Managing incoming donations, including receiving, selecting, sorting, pricing and disposing of unsuitable items
  • Ensuring effective stock rotation and maintaining appealing shop displays
  • Overseeing financial transactions and ensuring accurate cash handling
  • Providing regular reports on sales and banking
  • Promoting a safe working environment and ensuring adherence to CCT health and safety policies and procedures

About You

You’re an energetic and capable team leader who enjoys the pace and purpose of a community‑focused retail environment. You have solid retail and people‑management experience (opportunity shop experience preferred), and you lead with collaboration, encouragement, and genuine care. A positive attitude, excellent customer‑service skills, and the ability to enthuse both staff and volunteers are key to success in this role.

You’re confident working with people from all walks of life, you’re organised, comfortable juggling competing priorities and able to work both independently and as part of a team. You’re also familiar with Microsoft Office applications and happy using or learning retail‑related digital systems.
