Are you an experienced people‑leader with a passion for improving community health? Join Tasmania’s leading smoking cessation program and play a vital role in managing Tasmania’s frontline cessation support service.
We are seeking a motivated, people‑focused Quitline Manager (part time 0.8 FTE) to oversee the daily operations of the Tasmanian Quitline 13 7848, SMS and Web Chat services. This is an opportunity to lead a committed team of professional counsellors, deliver high‑quality behavioural support, and drive meaningful health outcomes across the state.
About the Role
The Quitline Manager is responsible for ensuring Tasmania’s Quitline services are safe, accessible, culturally responsive and aligned with best practice, including the National Minimum Quitline Standards. You will provide leadership, mentorship and clinical oversight to a small, dynamic team, while also contributing directly to service delivery when required to maintain continuity and quality.
Your leadership will support continuous improvement, strengthen referral pathways across health and community sectors, and enhance the visibility and reach of cessation services statewide.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Tasmanian Quitline, SMS and Web Chat services.
- Lead, support and mentor a small team of professional Quitline counsellors.
- Evaluation and ongoing quality improvement of the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based behavioural counselling to Tasmanians seeking support to quit smoking and/or vaping.
- Build and maintain relationships with health and community service providers to strengthen and promote referral pathways.
- Provide evidence‑based advice and behavioural counselling as needed to support service continuity.
- Oversee effective use of our CRM.
- Support state‑wide engagement activities to increase awareness and utilisation of cessation services among the community and health workforce.
About You
You are a motivated and compassionate leader with strong communication skills, critical thinking ability and a commitment to continuous quality improvement. You bring a people‑centred approach to your work and thrive in a role that blends team leadership, client engagement and service operations.
With professional qualifications (counselling, social work or related) and significant relevant experience within the allied health and/or community sector at a management or team leader level, you will be confident overseeing frontline services and ensuring adherence to best practice standards.
